The Martin Nolan collection includes manuscripts, correspondence, personal memorabilia, printed materials, professional materials, research materials, financial materials, film and video materials, audio materials, photographs, notebooks, subject files, scrapbooks, and other materials.

Manuscripts in the collection include articles written by Nolan, miscellaneous articles and items by others, the transcript of an interview with Newt Gingrich, a statement of the Republican National Committee, and a testimony of Senator John Seymour from the Republican National Committee. Material is dated between 1990 and 1995, some material is undated.

Professional materials in the collection include Massachusetts political campaign material dated between 1979 and 1991, national campaign material dated between 1978 and 1992, material on voter statistics, calendars from 1977 and 1984, briefing books from 1984, and various schedules, itineraries, materials related to the Lyndon B. Johnson Library, and business cards.

Research materials in the collection include files on Jimmy Carter, Bob Kerry, the Democratic Convention of 1992, the Republican Platform of 1992, the GOP Platform of 1996, the 1994 elections, and other materials.

Financial materials in the collection include a receipt from Capital Coin and Stamp Co. Inc., and a bank statement. Material is dated between 1991 and 1992.

Film and video materials in the collection consist of a promotional VHS video titled “Nick Paleologos: Lieutenant Governor.”

Audio materials in the collection include cassette tapes of Pat Robertson and presidential recordings from 1962, as well as two long-playing, Les Harvey records including notes from Lynne Tolman.

Photographs in the collection include prints of various subjects, in both color and black and white.

Notebooks in the collection include two notebooks of professional content with holograph notes.

Subject files in the collection are numerous, and include files on topics including Bill Bulger, Jimmy Carter, Boston in the 1970’s, 1980’s, and 1990’s, numerous proposals, press kits, and the 1984 League of Women Voters.

Scrapbooks in the collection contain clippings of Nolan’s articles from The Boston Globe, dated between 1976 and 1989.

Other materials in the collection include various large-sized posters, cartoons, framed photographs, and an oil painting.
