The Jesse Bier collection consists primarily of manuscripts, as well as correspondence and audio material.
Manuscripts in the collection include mostly typed drafts, some of which have been corrected by Bier. Titles include: Trial at Bannock (1963); Kauai: Newest America in Mid-Passage (1969); Year of the Cougar (1976); The Rise and Fall of American Humor (1967); Don't Tell Me Trees Don't Talk (1989); After Dying (1972); Resistant Essays (1994); and many others. The series also contains Bier’s other works, including poems, notes, and other drafts.
Correspondence in the collection includes letters regarding Resistant Essays and their publication (1982-1992); correspondence with Bier’s agent (1960-1965); and manuscripts and revisions (1962-1976).
Audio material in the collection consists of 2 cassette tapes.
