Scope:

The Helen Barolini collection includes manuscripts and other items.

Manuscripts in the collection include Barolini's books Umbertina (Seaview, 1979); Love in the Middle Ages (Morrow, 1986); Aldus and His Dream Book: An Illustrated Essay (Italica Press, 1991); Chiaroscuro: Essays of Identity (Bordighera, 1997); Visits, and Other Stories; Rome, and a Friend ; and Crossing the Alps .

Also in the collection are the manuscripts for The Dream Book: An Anthology of Writing by Italian-American Women (Schocken, 1985), which Barolini edited and for which she wrote the introduction. In addition to the manuscripts for Barolini's introduction, the collection includes a file on each contributors. Notable contributors include Sibilla Aleramo, Glora Vitanza Basile, Marion Benasutti, Dorothy Bryant, Diana Cavallo, Diane di Prima, Sandra Gilbert, Maria Gillan, Mary Gottesfeld, Barbara Grizzuti Harrison, Karen Malpede, Rosa Marinoni, Lucinda L.
