Burke, Billie (1884-1970)
Scope:
The Billie Burke collection consists of correspondence from Burke to Nancy Hamilton, American playwright, singer, popular songwriter, and author who wrote radio scripts for The Billie Burke Show, originally titled Fashions in Rations (1943-1944).  The correspondence begins in July 1944 and continues through 1957.  Many of Burke’s letters reference actress Katharine Cornell and her director/producer husband, Guthrie McClintic, with whom Hamilton spent time on the Cape.

Much of the archive consists of over one hundred photographs and other memorabilia (print ads, sheet music, etc.) relating to Burke’s early theatrical and film career, mother and family, and home life.

There is one legal contract between Billie Burke and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer dated May 18, 1939.
