Burrell, Berkeley G. (1919-1979)
The Berkeley G. Burrell collection consists of Burrell’s files regarding the National Business League. The subjects of these files include legislation; the Washington, D.C. Chamber of Commerce; the 1967 and 1968 conventions; the Goodbody Proposal, a capital market plan for the urban areas; Project Catapult, a 100-day program of economic development for African-American inner-city residents; Project Outreach; the National Association of Social Workers; a NBL Building Foundation, Inc., proposal for Los Angeles; and Mainstream, the official publication of the NBL. Other material includes various promotional and informational brochures and pamphlets; articles of incorporation; a selection of economic development program proposals (mainly sent to the Guggenheim Foundation); and excerpts from remarks by Vice President Hubert Humphrey to the National Businessman’s Council on Nov. 16, 1957, regarding minority inclusion.
