Cotes, Peter (1912-1998)
The Peter Cotes collection consists of manuscripts, research material, correspondence, printed material, photographs, memorabilia, and other items.

Manuscripts in the collection includes drafts of Cotes' books George Robey: The Darling of the Halls (Cassell, 1972); The Barbirollis: A Musical Marriage, written with Harold Atkins (Robson, 1983); Sincerely, Dickie: A Dickie Henderson Collection; Thinking Aloud: Fragments of an Autobiography (P. Owen, 1993); and several shorter and unfinished works by Cotes.

Research material includes various items on Charlie Chaplin used for Cotes' book The Little Fellow: The Life and Work of Charles Spencer Chaplin (written with Thelma Niklaus), including several photographs of Chaplin.

Correspondence in the collection includes letters regarding Cotes's work in theatre; items pertaining to the publication of his books; and personal letters to and from Cotes.

Printed material includes published writings by Cotes, including J.P.; The Man Called Mitch; and Sincerely Dickie.  Also present are some published works by other authors.
