Forbes, Kathryn [Kathryn A. McLean] (1908-1966)
The Kathryn Forbes collection includes manuscripts, printed materials, photographs, and artwork.

Collected manuscripts include a John Van Druten play, I Remember Mama (1944), adapted from Forbes' Mama's Bank Account, as well as a related screenplay by DeWitt Bodeen (1946). Another play, "Here's Mama" by Frank Gabrielson, is also present.

Printed materials include a set of uncorrected galley proofs for Mama's Bank Account (1943). Also present are publications in which Forbes’ work appeared, such as Parade, Saturday Evening Post, Collier's, Good Housekeeping, and Reader's Digest. Articles about Forbes from Life, Look, and others constitute additional material, along with two broadsides for a Good Housekeeping article on San Francisco. Of particular note is a news clipping of an Eleanor Roosevelt article in which she comments favorably on I Remember Mama.

Photographs in the collection document the original production of I Remember Mama.

The collection also includes a framed George Jenkins watercolor of the original set of Mama and Lucinda Ballard watercolors of Mama costumes, which are accompanied by swatches of costume cloth.
