Gartner, Chloe (1916-2003)
The Chloe Gartner collection includes manuscripts, correspondence, printed materials, and other items.

Manuscripts for many of Gartner's novels are collected, including The Infidels (Doubleday, 1960), Drums of Khartoum (1967), Mistress of the Highlands (1976), and Anne Bonny (1977), as well as two unpublished works: Cry of the Peacocks and Gypsy Earrings. All manuscripts were published by Morrow unless noted.

The collection includes both professional and personal correspondence. Letters to and from Ellen Levine (Gartner's agent), Good Housekeeping, Dr. Howard Gotlieb, and Phyllis Levy are included alongside a letter to Gartner’s mother.

Collected printed materials consist of various short stories, news clippings, and numerous issues of Leben und Glauben (in which Drums was published serially). Samuel French’s Perchance to Dream and a book jacket for Infidels constitute additional printed materials.

Also included in the collection are two black and white photographs of Gartner and a 1968 award from Friends of American Writers for Drums of Khartoum.
