The Miles Gibson collection includes manuscripts, correspondence, scrapbooks, printed material, and other items.
Manuscripts for books by Gibson in the collection include his novels The Sandman (1984); Dancing with Mermaids (1985); Vinegar Soup (1987); Kingdom Swann (1990); Fascinated (1994); The Prisoner of Meadow Bank (1995); Mr. Romance (2003); Little Archie (2004); and Einstein (2004). Manuscripts for screenplays include Gentlemen’s Relish, by David Nobbs, based on Kingdom Swann (2001); The Angel Chronicles (2004-2005); and Frankie and the Indians.
Correspondence in the collection includes personal and professional correspondence (1983-2002) and files for notable correspondents, such as Diane Rains Ward and Geoffrey C. Ward (1994-2009), and Andrew Dickerson (2009-2011).
Scrapbooks in the collection consist of seven scrapbooks of printed articles, clippings, and reviews, along with a scrapbook regarding Gentlemen’s Relish (2000-2001).
Printed material in the collection includes several issues of Telegraph magazine, where Gibson was often a contributor; there are 10 issues total, dated 1969, 1973, 1975, and 1980-1982. Also present is an issue of Tomorrow, vol. 2, no. 1, 1971-1972; four issues of Amazing Grace; and a tear sheet from Maxim magazine.
Other material includes two black and white photographs of Gibson; sketches by Gibson in marker; a file regarding a trip to Africa, including photographs, letters, and other items; a legal contract regarding Dancing with Mermaids (1983); personal photographs; audio material; and a VHS tape of Gentlemen’s Relish (2001).
