Grimes, Tammy (1934-2016)
The Tammy Grimes collection consists of manuscripts, correspondence, professional material, photographs, diaries and journals, printed material, and other items.

Manuscripts by Grimes in the collection include her autobiography Groundswell as well as various speeches, screenplays, and other miscellaneous short pieces.

Correspondence in the collection includes letters to Grimes from various individuals (1950s-1993, some undated), as well as letters from Grimes and correspondence with her family. Notable correspondents include Richard Burton, Johnny Carson, Rex Harrison, Roddy McDowall, Leverett Saltonstall, Alice B. Toklas, Lewis Lapham, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Nancy Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Jason Robards, John Gielgud, Shirley Maclaine, Laurence Olivier, Neil Simon, and Gloria Vanderbilt.

Professional material in the collection includes several subject files with programs, reviews, letters, and other items regarding various productions Grimes was involved with. These files date from 1955 to 1990, and include Bus Stop (1955); The Amazing Adele (1956); and The Unsinkable Molly Brown (1960-1988). Also present are items regarding nightclub appearances, readings, lectures, and recordings, as well as production notes, schedules, biographical items, and publicity.

Photographs in the collection include several black and white photos of Grimes (1970s-1980s); various snapshots, in black and white and color; and contact sheets and color negatives.

Diaries and journals in the collection include Grimes’s gardening notebook (1980-1986); three journals from 1980, 1985 and 1986; and a theatre diary from 1984. Also present is a notebook with holograph notes by Amanda Plummer (1966).
Printed material in the collection includes programs (some featuring Christopher or Amanda Plummer), catalogs, newspapers and magazines (with several items regarding Grimes), newsletters, brochures, maps, and other various items.

Other material in the collection includes financial material, legal material, artwork, musical scores and lyrics, awards, invitations, and miscellaneous memorabilia.
