The Aubrey Hodes collection includes manuscripts, correspondence, printed materials, research materials, audio materials, and photographs.

The collection includes manuscripts for full-length works, translations, and other materials. Collected full-length manuscripts include Dialogue with Ishmael (Funk and Wagnalls, 1969) and Martin Buber: An Intimate Portrait (Viking Press, 1971). Collected translation manuscripts include Mordechai Oren's Prisoner in Prague, Sasson Somekh's "Fedwa Toukan: Palestinian Poetess," Ahazon Megged's "Fortunes of a Fool," Arie Eliav's "Israel, Palestine, and Peace," and other titles. Many additional drafts, articles, chapters, notes, and fragments are also present, as is a manuscript of Hodes' "Crushing the Lotus," a short story. Manuscripts by other authors, some of which include holograph corrections by Hodes, constitute additional items. The majority of collected manuscripts are signed and marked with holograph corrections and explanatory holograph notes.

Correspondence, kept between 1967 and 1968, is primarily professional, documenting Hodes' exchanges with British and American publishers and literary agents. Notables include F. Sherman Baker.

The collection's printed materials include booklets, brochures, magazines, press releases, clippings, and proofs—many of which are in Hebrew or Russian. Unique items include Tel Aviv Museum concert programs and reports regarding CIA perspectives on Jewish International Affairs (1966).

Research materials in the collection include correspondence and printed items. Research file headings concern Journey from Ice, Martin Buber, Leaving Russia, and "Jewish Aspects of the Changes in Czechoslovakia."

Also included is a reel-to-reel tape of "Sunday Readings" from Martin Buber, as read by Brian Haines and John Ruddock.

Photographs in the collection consist of two black and white prints, one color print, and two postcards.
