James, Howard (1935-2018)
Scope:
The Howard James collection includes manuscripts, printed materials, professional materials, research materials, and other items.  

Manuscripts in the collection include over fifteen holograph notebooks and typescript notes pertaining to a Christian Science Monitor series on Gary, Indiana. Also present are notes on racial strife composed between 1965 and 1966.

Collected printed materials include news clippings, tearsheets, and articles of interest to or composed by James. Subject matter ranges from floods in the Mid-West to James' Court Reform series.

James' collection also contains professional files on a number of individuals, such as Jack Wigham, Leasa Dalfonter, Clyde Pinson, Jeff Nisen, Erin Scribner, Susan Arena, Julie Hamlin, Pam Waterhouse, and John Hammer, as well as various organizations. Professional materials include memos, correspondence, financial materials, schedules, and additional information.

Also present is a series of questionnaires answered by court officials or contacts in each of the fifty states, which James utilized during his Court Reform series research.

Other items consist of a photograph of James and four letters to James from Gary, Indiana officials.
