Johnston, Denis (1901-1984)
Scope:
The Denis Johnston collection consists of diaries, notebooks, correspondence, and a printed item.

Diaries in the collection consist of microfilms of Johnston’s diaries from the years ca. 1917 to 1939.

Notebooks in the collection are photocopies of Johnston’s original holograph writings. They date from 1942 to ca. 1947.

Correspondence in the collection relates to Johnston’s autobiography Nine Rivers from Jordan (Verschoyle, 1953; Little Brown, 1955). The letters date from 1949 to 1955.

The printed item in the collection is a mimeograph copy (signed) of Johnston’s privately printed autobiography The Brazen Horn (1968; Humanities, 1976), under the title Lenaea.
