Lane, Ferdinand C. (1885-1984)
Scope:
The Ferdinand C. Lane collection consists of manuscripts, correspondence, and printed material.

Manuscripts by Lane in the collection include drafts of his books Our Friendly Lakes (unpublished);The Mysterious Sea (Doubleday, 1947); The Earth’s Grandest Rivers (Doubleday, 1949); The World’s Great Lakes (Doubleday, 1949); The Story of Mountains (Doubleday, 1951); The Story of Trees (Doubleday, 1952); and All About the Insect World (Random House, 1954).  Some research material and proofs are also present.  In addition, there is a draft of Lane’s article on Lake George for the Encyclopedia Americana, as well as a proof of his article on the Adirondack Mountains.

Correspondence in the collection consists of a few letters from various individuals, dating from 1945 to 1948, with one from 1952.  These items include a letter from Daniel L. Marsh.

Printed material in the collection consists of several issues of Baseball Magazine, dating from January 1922 to December 1934.  Also present is an issue of the Cape Cod Standard Times from 1967.
