Leffingwell, Robert (1911-1991)
Scope:
The Robert Leffingwell collection primarily consists of artwork. Present are numerous cartoons for Leffingwell’s strips Little Joe and Ze Gen’ral. The artwork for Little Joe dates from 1935 to 1967 (not every strip between these dates is present), and includes pen-and-ink drawings, black and white proofs, hand-colored proofs, and three large sketches. The artwork for Ze Gen’raldates from 1944 to 1972 (not every strip between these dates is present), and includes pen-and-ink drawings, black and white proofs, and hand-colored proofs. In addition, there is a drawing and proof of a cartoon “Little Brother Hugo,” by Bill Perry, from 1966.
