Lucas, Lawrence E. (1933- )
The Lawrence Lucas collection includes manuscripts, printed materials, and correspondence.

The collection’s manuscripts include Black Priest, White Church (1970); articles for the weekly column "Black Voice;" and short articles such as "Real Thinking Demonstrated by Actions Speaks Louder Than Words;" "Remarks at Resurrection’s Graduation Exercises" (1980); "Some Observations on the Sex-Education-in-the-Classroom Controversy" (1980); and "Some Thoughts on Black Leadership" (1980).

Collected printed materials include articles by Lucas such as "As Thyself" (1966); "More on Calley" (1971); "The Church in Zambia" (1973); "The Church Looks at Numbers" (1973); "More on Blacks and the Bicentennial" (1975); and "Speculation on the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." (1977).  The series also includes various newspaper articles about Lucas regarding his appointment to Cardinal, as well as his speeches given at St. Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic Church and the National Conference of Catholic Bishops. Reviews of Lucas’ Black Priest, White Church are also included.

Correspondence includes a letter from Louis Martin inviting Lucas to a meeting with President Jimmy Carter, as well as Lucas’ response declining the invitation in 1980.
