The James Lynne collection includes manuscripts, correspondence, and printed materials.

The collection’s manuscripts include drafts of Lynne’s novels, screenplays, television plays, radio plays, and stage plays. Novels include The Commuters (1973); The Diamond Hook (1970); The Man Who Walked on Diamonds (1970); The Marchioness; Rock of Diamonds (1972); and Tobey’s Wednesday (1967). Screenplays include "The Diamond Hook" and "Tobey’s Wednesday" (1968). Television plays include "The General" and "The Jokers" (1962). Radio plays include "Charlie and Duke" (1963); "The Implant" (1973); "Return Visit" (1965); "Trilogy;" and more. Stage plays include "Ketch;" "Roman Narcissus;" and "The Trigon."

Collected correspondence dates from approximately 1956 to 1972 and is primarily from publishers, producers, and fellow authors. Notables include producer Arthur Cantor, author Charles Duff, publisher Allen Lane, novelist Philip Toynbee, among others.

Printed materials include playbills for English and foreign productions of "The Trigon."
