Scope:
The Richard Neely collection includes manuscripts, correspondence, and printed materials.

Manuscripts in the collection include Neely's novels The Plastic Nightmare (1969); While Love Lay Sleeping (1969); The Walter Syndrome (1970); The Smith Conspiracy (1972); The Japanese Mistress (1972); A Madness of the Heart (1975); The Ridgway Women (1975); Lies (1978); and An Accidental Woman (1981). Drafts of No Certain Life, The Obligation, and Shadows from the Past are also included, as well as screenplays for Shattered and The Walter Syndrome.

Correspondence in the collection consists of two photocopies of letters from Neely’s publisher, dated 1969 and 1972, as well as both personal and general correspondence dated between 1969 and 1982.

Printed materials in the collection include newspaper clippings, an interview with Neely from Mystery Scene Magazine, and publicity materials for An Accidental Woman and "Shattered."
