Published works include Blind Man’s Mark (Simon and Schuster, 1959), Flesh and Blood (Simon and Schuster, 1960), Many Are the Hearts (Simon and Schuster, 1961), Horseshoe Bend (Simon and Schuster, 1962), Hecatomb (Simon and Schuster, 1965), First Bull Run (Macmillan, 1965), Chancelorsville (Macmillan, 1967), They Shall Not Pass (Doubleday, 1971),  Wine-Making at Home (Workman Publishing, 1972), and Making Furniture and Playspaces (Workman Publishing, 1972), as well as shorter works by Palmer and manuscripts by others.

Correspondence includes personal and professional materials written between 1959 and 2004.

Printed materials include clippings, pamphlets, programs, magazines, tearsheets, reviews, and other items.
