Shepard, Richard (1922-1998)
Scope:
The Richard Shepard collection consists of manuscripts, printed materials, and correspondences related to this reporter and author.

Manuscripts in the collection include numerous drafts of much of Shepard’s published work, including several essays and articles, one book proposal, and a eulogy for Mike Liebowitz.

Correspondence in the collection includes both personal and professional letters. Notable correspondents include David Barboza, Lewis Gould, Carl Heine, Harold Holzer, Martin Segal and Arthur Sulzberger.

Printed material in the collection consists of material and documents on various subjects. topics include Long Island (1978-1998), Adolph S. Ochs,  The Jewish Connection (1967-1998), and others.  General printed items include news clippings, personal copies of newspapers, journals, and magazines. In addition, the collection includes notebooks dated 1980 to 1996.

The collection also contains some memorabilia, including juvenilia (1936-1947), press passes, scrapbooks and several photographs including one with Walter Cronkite.
