Spinelli, Marcos (1904-1970)

The Marcos Spinelli collection includes manuscripts, correspondence and other printed materials.
Manuscripts in the collection consist of drafts of Spinelli's novels, including Assignments Without Glory (1944), The Lash of Desire (1957), The Mission (1966), Mocambu (1958), The Muleteer, Beyond Redemption, and The Missionary (1966) among others. In addition, the collection contains several short stories written for various publications at different times.
Printed material in the collection consist of newspaper articles regarding Spinelli and his wife; copies of several of Spinelli's published short articles, stories and essays; some weekly newsletters, pamphlets; and a copy of the published version of Spinelli's novel Campaign.
Correspondence in the collection consists of both personal and professional letters between Spinelli and several publishers, editors, and literary agents, dating from 1947 to 1952. In addition, the collection contains letters from Spinelli's time in World War II to and from his wife and commanding officers, as well as several professional letters regarding Spinelli's novels.
