Starkey, Marion (1901-1991)

The Marion Starkey collection consists of manuscripts, printed material, correspondence, and other material.
Manuscripts in the collection consist of a handwritten draft of The Cherokee Nation (1948); fragments and variants of Striving to Make it My Home (1964), and Lace Cuffs and Leather Aprons (1973). Other items include papers written for various classes at Boston University, note cards, and various composition books.
Printed material in the collection consists of personal copies of magazines and newspapers, pamphlets, playbills, research material including an article dating from 1794. Other materials include personal papers such as passports, book contracts, financial documents, and some legal documents.
Correspondence in the collection includes letters to and from Starkey and her mother, letters from or relating to Dr. K Schleissner, and several letters from fans and book readers.
Other material in the collection includes several diaries and scrapbooks; unlabeled photographs; research material; high school and college notebooks and other juvenilia; memorabilia from Starkey's grandfather's time in the US army; and a few letters from the American Civil War.
