Boyle, Rena E. (1914-2006)
The Rena E. Boyle collection consists of manuscripts, correspondence, printed material, and memorabilia.
Manuscripts by Boyle in the collection include her Ph.D. thesis, "A Study of Programs of Professional Education for Teachers of Nursing in Nineteen Selected Universities," submitted to the Graduate Faculty of the University of Minnesota (1953); drafts of a number of speeches (1961-1973); drafts of articles (1967-1972); drafts of reports (1954-1966); and other writings, including material on her work instituting a school of nursing in Panama (ca. 1966).
Correspondence in the collection primarily consists of professional letters to and from Boyle. These include: a certificate of outstanding achievement from the regents of the University of Minnesota (1959); a certificate of gratitude from the Republic of Panama, Department of Health (1966); a certificate of Honorary Membership in the University of Nebraska School of Nursing Alumnae Association (1969); a certificate of appreciation awarded by the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (1970); a certificate of initiation into the Black Masque Chapter of the Mortar Board (1970); and a certificate of appointment to the Comprehensive Health Planning Advisory Council of the State of Nebraska, signed by Governor J. James Exon (1972-1974).
