Boston Revisited: Fifty Years of the Bay State Banner

The exhibition is presented in conjunction with the publication of the book, Boston's Banner Years: 1965 - 2015. This volume is a celebration of the challenges and successes of the community chronicled by The Bay State Banner over five decades. What the book tells in text, the exhibition displays in images.

Taken from The Bay State Banner photograph collection at the Gotlieb Center, the exhibition focuses on the major areas also covered in the book, from education to politics, from law enforcement to community action. The exhibition is a photographic history of Boston: highlighting the areas of local employment, banking, housing, community organizations, protests and demonstrations, festivals, the arts, music, and athletics. It also delves into the work of publisher William Monroe Trotter and The Guardian newspaper, the immediate antecedent to the Banner.

This exhibition is no longer on display.
