Nelson DeMille: Thrillers in Progress
The exhibition documented the literary career of the master of the crime fiction and thriller genre, Nelson DeMille, from a selection of handwritten manuscript pages from his first published novel, The Sniper (1974), right up through his most recently published novel, The Panther (October 2012). Known for his extensive research process, the exhibition utilizes materials from DeMille's research files specifically used for By the Rivers of Babylon (1978) and Cathedral (1981). There is also manuscript material related to early drafts of Word of Honor (1985), originally titled, Dawn's Early Light; and The Charm School (1988). Rounding out the exhibition are photographs of DeMille from various periods in his life: early publicity shots in New York City, at home on Long Island, on active duty in Vietnam in 1967, and receiving an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, Hofstra University (1989).
