History of Nursing Through Fifty Years of Collecting

 

This six-case exhibition traced the past, present, and future of the nursing occupation through the collections held at the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center's The History of Nursing Archives. With over 38 nursing collections on display, the exhibition featured correspondence, paper drafts, books, awards, and speeches from nursing leaders such as Florence Nightingale, Linda Richards, Martha Rogers, Virginia Henderson, Joyce Clifford, Frances Slanger, Mary Ann Garrigan, M. Elizabeth Carnegie, and Muriel Poulin. It also featured original material from nursing organizations, hospitals, and training schools such as the Boston City Hospital, N.E. Hospital for Women & Children, American Nurses Association, MGH School of Nursing, Children's Hospital, American Assembly of Men in Nursing, and the Boston University School of Nursing. .
