Bidu Sayao: A Tribute
This small exhibition follows the life and career of Brazilian-American opera star Bidu Sayao. There are childhood photographs and personal mementos from her early performing career as well as inscribed photographs from "fans" ranging from Queen Marie of Romania and Benito Mussolini to First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. The exhibition includes several photographs of Bidu in costume for roles at the Metropolitan Opera. Her friendship with Brazilian composer Hector Villa-Lobos is briefly chronicled as well as her continued ties to her homeland of Brazil.
Located second floor of Mugar Memorial Library. The exhibition can be viewed during regular library hours.
