Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me?
Mar. 30, 1958
Mar. 30, 1958. Running time: 39:18. It is Palm Sunday, and Thurman discusses the crucifixion of Jesus. For Thurman, Jesus' words, "why has thou forsaken me," are daring and audacious. He asks his congregation to think about what they see -- not what they are told to see -- as they consider the crucifixion of Jesus. He considers that while death is inevitable, the time of death can be negotiable. Death is not the worst thing in the world. The worst is corruption of one's soul if a person becomes overcome by evil.
